Shelf over toilet
Extra shelf space is always welcome in a tight bathroom. This cheap easy solution of using painted plywood (instead of originally planned solid cherry) is actually best for a curved shape resting on ledgers. Double layer at the front lip helps it look more substantial, though it still seems to float somewhat.

Trunk diameters, v.2008
Experience now shows that moisture-loving, aggressive-growing, poor-soil-tolerant trees grow best here. In other words, the toughest and meanest varieties.
This winter has been so far very wet and windy, and several trees have suffered, most notably the Victorian Box out in front (wind-toppled), the Tenuifolium, Sandalwood and Lemonwood-variegated in the side yard (waterlogged), and the Brisbane Box in the rear (flooded, then blown over). The waterlogged trees have lost a lot of leaves.
Of particular interest is Sandalwood, which was planted the latest, yet it's now the largest tree by far.

Vanity cabinet doors
Powder room is now functional and basically useable, missing only a mirror, wall cabinet and accessory hardware. Total cost from scratch is $2,688. I figure no more than $300 for total completion, keeping this project under 3k. The splurge items were toilet, skylight, exhaust system and cabinet doors.
