Trunk diameters, v.2008

Experience now shows that moisture-loving, aggressive-growing, poor-soil-tolerant trees grow best here. In other words, the toughest and meanest varieties.

This winter has been so far very wet and windy, and several trees have suffered, most notably the Victorian Box out in front (wind-toppled), the Tenuifolium, Sandalwood and Lemonwood-variegated in the side yard (waterlogged), and the Brisbane Box in the rear (flooded, then blown over). The waterlogged trees have lost a lot of leaves.

Of particular interest is Sandalwood, which was planted the latest, yet it's now the largest tree by far.
